The Sara River crew have decided that we are moving back to our original philosophy of being an information only Web Site, thus we are removing the SHOP from our site effective immediately. We were not making any money any way :-))

Why breed? We choose to breed, partly because we love animals, and partly because we choose to eat healthy, mineral dense, chemical free food that we know has been raised with kindness and love and despatched humanely. Many people are looking for more naturally raised animals and the more we study about how animals are being raised commercially including management practices, the chemicals and hormones used both in husbandry practices and within the feed, the lack of consideration for natural behaviours and requirements, the lack of mineral density because of the depleted soil on which they are raised and/or their feed is grown, the (the list goes on and on) and of course the effects (both short and long term) of this on our health, the more we decide to provide our own food source. The shipment of ST and STC type alternators have arrived, and very soon the Serpentine Pulleys will also be ready to ship. We are also stocking a great deal of spare parts for these Alternators, including bearings, the Control Box, brushes, slip rings and the only electronic part on the Alternator, the Rectifier. Have a look in the SHOP for more information. The Listweroids will be arriving around the end of October, so reserve your order now as only limited stocks will be imported.

The Horse in Harmony - Yoga for Horses

What is Yoga for Horses? It would be best described as a method of training under saddle to teach flexibility and balance while at the same time releasing tensions as they arise. The end result - a horse that is a pleasure to ride - balanced, flexible and pliable in the mind. It is a very achievable schooling system designed to take the struggle out of training. Simply put it is - Yoga for Horses.

This book is written for any rider who has a desire to work with a simple and yet very effective method of horse training and includes both detailed information and 30 illustrations to clearly define a progressive series of training exercises that are effective for any horse. It completes with examples of training programmes, including the possible combinations of movements and how they are put together, to assist the rider to implement these exercises into a programme for their individual horse's needs.

By understanding some aspects of the musculature structure and its effects upon the horses balance and temperament, you will be able to predict many responses of your horse and then apply the various explained and illustrated training exercises as a correction and as a building block for further work. Your horse simply needs to be shown how to release his tension and how to carry himself in a balanced and relaxed way.

Temporary Closure of our Forum. April 15, 2008

As you may appreciate, being self-sufficient and developing a self sufficient property ( including building) requires a rather large and regular daily time commitment. In addition, we are now in the process of writing a number of books and booklets as a further support for those that may be interested in self-sufficiency or a more sustainable lifestyle. We wish to ensure that our experience and ever ongoing learning's are not lost but written in such a way as to be achievable by anyone.

Due to these time constraints we will be unable to contribute to the forum for some time and therefore rather than leave the forum unattended or erratically managed, we feel that it better to temporarily close this part of the website. The information will still be available in the same manner but posting or shouts, for the time being, will not be possible.

On an exciting note the site is now receiving some 2,000 hits per day and the first of our e-books is almost ready to be published with a number of others well on the way, so stay tuned for the new releases on the Sara River Dot Com site (sarariver.com).

We are also including a new section for people who wish to sell their wares, books, e-books etc. but may not have the facility to do this. If ou wish to sell something on the site please contact the Webmaster and have a chat. We apologise sincerely for any inconvenience and hope to atch up again with you in the near future.

A small note from Graham: If anybody feels the need to or simply wants to discuss any of the Alternative Power projects that I have begun, please contact me via the Webmaster here. My work commitments have grown so much that I can not provide as much support to the forum as I would like, I apologise for this. But I will be writing a book on this subject , and hopefully soon.
